Welcome to the desert! Well, maybe not the desert. This is a place known as the “Great Sandhills” in southwest Saskatchewan. A very unique area in the prairies. It is one of the largest active set of sand dunes in Canada. It covers an area of 1900 square kilometres. While the area itself is huge, most of the area is actually not exposed sand. A lot of brush and grasses have covered the other hills leaving three smaller active “dunes”. My camera is quite low to the ground here and if I were to stand up from this spot you would begin to see that there was not much to this particular dune. As it stands though, I liked the simplicity of this composition with the lone cloud lit up by the setting sun.
