The fall of 2025 was really busy. Not with photography, but with other projects. I only had three opportunities to shoot that season: my mountain trip and two days in the woodlands of Saskatchewan. Even though the quantity wasn’t there this past year, the quality of the conditions certainly was. In recent years, fall colours in Saskatchewan have come and gone without much in the way of dramatic or atmospheric weather.
This year was different. Both times I went out to photograph the local woodlands, the fog was incredible. In the case of this image, I had never experienced fog so thick or so long-lasting in the fall. It lingered nearly the entire day, giving me the opportunity to explore every corner of Wascana Trails. I got into a zone and began seeing images everywhere. There will be more photos from that day, but this one is my favourite. I love the three distinct trees, how they interact, and the sense of depth in the image.
